My first taste of architectural design was whilst I studied product design in school when I explored the realm of architecture for my final project. I developed a brief to design a headquarters for a local import & export company that wanted to move from its current premises into a new building, to provide more space and something that reflect the companies ethics and morals. This finalised with me producing a 3D digital model (via CREO) and making a physical model (1mx1m). The building was designed to be constructed from a series of interlocking shipping containers. Alongside the building I was also required to develop a new branding design for the company, creating a logo, template business card, and an information leaflet.
This was understandably an unresolved project as I was new to architectural design and at that point had no training. However, it was a significant moment for me as it was the first time I realised the potential of architecture. How it can impact everything, from the mood of an individual experiencing your designed space to the way our society operates.
